Flowers & Flyers (and real digital INFRA RED) and my wood work
PetalsNWings
Welcome!!! At "PetalsNWings" you will find some of my favorite images: critters that fly, like birds, butterflies and dragonflies; and things equally beautiful, but earthbound, like flowers; and, real digital infra red photography. You will also be able to see and purchase my one of a kind wood work. Pricing and availability of my photography and wood work are on page 5.
First, a couple of my favorite photographic quips:
"If you own a camera, you are a photographer. If you own a flute, you own a flute."
     (Author unknown.)
Another great quip, sometimes attributed to Weegee, who was then the photo editor of the New York Times, is his answer to a budding photo-journalist's question about how to get the perfect photograph:
[Set your camera's aperture to] "f/8 and be there." , he said.
These quips raise the question "Why should you look at my photographs?" Or, the photographs of any other serious enthusiast or professional photographer, for that matter. If it were as easy as owning a camera, and setting your aperture to f/8 and "be(ing) there", there would be no reason to look at the photographs of any professional or serious enthusiast.
It is not that easy. For every image that I save, dozens have gone into my "recycle bin".
I believe the difficulty finding, composing, exposing, and processing my images is readily apparent. Which is why you should look.
Below is an image of an "eight spotted skimmer" dragonfly. (Pentax K20D, 300mm f/4.5 @f/8, ISO 200.) While voracious predators, dragonflies are completely harmless to humans.
